Musical musings

Throughly enjoyed incorporating one of my other loves on this last little project. Much like film and photography, music has occupied a significant space in my life. And as necessity is the mother of invention, rather than paying for some ubiquitous library music, it just made sense to get creative and write and record some simple pieces to sit underneath this little YouTube mini documentary – as if I didn’t already have enough to do in a short space of time.

So flicking through the sample library, I noticed that some had been recorded at AIR studios in the Lyndhurst Hall, to make use of the unique acoustics this incredible space offers. So it reminded me of a project I shot there just over a year ago in 2024. The sound is so extraordinary, and it’s such privilege to have shot in that space a couple of times now. Both times I have been there, it has been a joy to work with a full orchestra. The first time I was there was to film the recording of the brass section for one of the James Bond films. Inspiring stuff and the sort of thing that reminds me of how satisfying writing and recording music is.

Really looking forward to more regularly using the musical grey matter again on subsequent projects.
